The activities of the Second Infection Control and Environmental Health Training Course were concluded where they lasted for two weeks. The training course was organized by the Department of Infection Prevention and Control in collaboration with the Military Field Medicine in King Abdulaziz Medical City - Jeddah, with the presence of General/ Saeed Alamri- Military Field Medicine Commander in the Ministry of National Guard-Western Region, and a group of supervisors, lecturers, and specialists in the field of infection prevention and control. Also, the course aimed to train officers, soldiers and discuss many important topics that are relevant to infection control, including: the basics of vaccination, methods of injecting vaccines, influenza and the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (Koruna).
In addition, twenty-three trainees from medical care teams in MNG-HA, Western Region have been trained in the areas of infection control, vaccinations, the basics of water and food safety as well how to collect samples and fill out the data through an emphasis on practical training and discussing different solutions. Consequently, the trainees at the end of the course will be able to recognize the most common infectious diseases, how to prevent them, learn basic precautions and infection control procedures, apply food and water safety procedures and figure out types of adults vaccinations and their preparation. Also, the trainees will know the ways of injecting various vaccinations, necessary injecting skills, negative effects of vaccinations and how to deal with them as well finding out the cold chain and the different ways of keeping vaccinations.
Moreover, Dr. Asim Al Saaedi, Deputy CEO of Infection Prevention and Control Department said that the infection prevention and control as well promoting environmental health are considered ones of the most important priorities for the Military Field Medicine. Last but not least, the participants were honored and received training certificates at the end of the course.
