The Infection Prevention and Control Department in King Abdulaziz Medical City –WR organized the INTERNATIONAL INFECTION PREVENTION AND CONTROL WEEK, The purpose of this international week is to increase awareness amongst the healthcare workers about the prevention of infectious diseases and to make them understand the role of Infection Prevention and Control program in reducing the burden of these diseases.
The event started with an awareness exhibition that includes an educational booth in the main corridor, quizzes, and questionnaires distributed in the booth, Educational rounds in the clinical areas have been conducted by Infection Prevention and Control staff which also included hand hygiene demonstration and flu vaccine for NGHA staff, patients and visitors.
Dr. Asim Alsaedi, Deputy Associate Executive Director Infection Prevention and Control explained that this week of awareness ended with a scientific symposium that discussed several topics related to infectious diseases such as Hand Hygiene, Tuberculosis “An Infection Control Perspective” and Influenza Vaccination In the presence of a selection of specialists in this field.
