In line with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's strategy for digital health transformation, which contributes to providing high-quality health services to patients, the Ministry of National Guard - Health Affairs has sought to focus efforts on integrating and digitizing the surgical operating rooms.
The new project offers distinct features including an audiovisual system management, documentation and archiving, communication and safety features, in addition to a user-friendly integrated platform to complete the tasks in a safe and effective manner.
In addition, integrated intelligence has been applied in the operating rooms to include advanced endoscopic procedures, robotic surgeries, automatic retrieval of patient information, dual image capture, and export and portability capabilities to different media.
The project also introduces an innovative approach capable of meeting modern communication requirements, allowing the OR to communicate with any fixed or mobile device around the world through satellite communication technologies for communication purposes such as seminars, teaching and consultations.
Moreover, the project achieves the highest levels of quality and efficiency for patient safety by providing smart solutions to monitor the patient's vital signs and immediate access to the patient’s physiological status to reduce any complications during surgeries.
And in order to ensure optimal functioning of the operating rooms, a number of improvements have been implemented, such as operating room lights with signal control, lamps with cold light to protect the patient during long surgical interventions, as well as allowing surgeons to work comfortably, as well as providing high-resolution wireless cameras for large and small surgical fields, or in critical cases, even in deep body cavities.
The first phase of the project has been completed, where 3 operating rooms have been fully equipped and developed, while the project’s remaining phases are underway, which will include 6 additional operating rooms.
This project comes as a part of the strategy pursued by the Ministry of National Guard - Health Affairs to provide optimal health care in line with the medical performance and development of patient safety thus elevating the medical standards in all MNG-HA facilities.
