Abdulaziz Medical City in Riyadh organized a training program which aimed to increase
the Social Workers’ qualifications and professionalism.
This program which was held at the Postgraduate Training Center at King
Saud University for Health Sciences included various scientific lectures, began with a lecture
by Ms. Mashael Al Shubaily, Social Worker, discussing the situations that require the
intervention of a social worker.
Then, Ms. Rana Ahmed, Social Worker, talked about violence and
neglect against children with special needs.
After that, Dr. Mustafa Qasim pointed out the most important skills of
the social worker.
The first day lectures were concluded by Dr. Mohammed Al Sayed about
theories of professional practice in medicine.
Ms. Eman Al Yameni discussed the mechanism, methods, types and importance
of interviews. Moreover, Mr. Sultan Al Awwam highlighted the role of social worker in case of
crises and incurable diseases.
Finally, Dr. Mohammed Sharkawi talked about psychological and social
counseling.
