Department of Infection Prevention and Control has celebrated on Tuesday, May 5th of 2015, the World Hand Hygiene Day for the 10th consecutive year in the Middle East at King Abdulaziz Medical City – Riyadh.
The activity addressed many issues that revolved around the importance of hand hygiene such as hand washing and following safety procedures which is the most effective way to prevent the spread of infections and diseases, hence, prevention is better than cure.
Activities also emphasized that neglecting hand hygiene not only put the person himself at risk but everyone around him, especially with the prevalence of recent infectious diseases, along with highlighting the availability of simple and affordable tools that ensures hand hygiene and kill bacteria and germs so we could all enjoy a diseases-free clean environment.
The ceremony was concluded with announcing the winners for the best tutorial video on hand hygiene and handing over the awards by Dr. Saad Al Mehrij, Chief Medical Officer of the Ministry of National Guard - Health Affairs.
