The Medical and surgical team at King Faisal Cardiac Center at the Ministry of National Guard – Health Affair- Western Region had a outstanding participation in the Catheter Interventions in Congenital, Structural and Valvar Heart Disease Conference (PICS-CSI Asia 2016) hosted by UAE-Dubai.
The medical team of the center presented a live broadcast of complex therapeutic catheter procedures for number of patients suffering from genetic heart diseases.
Dr. Wael Kashgari, Congenital Heart Diseases Consultant stated that this participation is considered to be a new medical achievement for King Faisal Cardiac Center, as all surgeries were successful. He added that interventional procedures were admired by the attendees at one of the biggest conferences specialized in such diseases. He also mentioned that the medical team presented a distinctive experience through a treatment that is considered complex and rare in interventional heart surgeries.
The participation of King Faisal Cardiac Center was in response to an invitation from the organizers where several international and local centers specialized in treatments of Interventional Catheterization for valvular heart disease participated as well. Such centers are competing with each other to showcase their therapeutic capabilities which made King Faisal Center participation of a high value due to its advanced medical equipment and high caliber especially in treating such congenital diseases.
In addition, Dr. Farqad Alamgir, Chairman of Cardiac Sciences at King Faisal Cardiac Center expressed his joy regarding the medical team performance which left a distinct impression, especially because this participation proved the capability of King Faisal Center live from the operating . he added that King Faisal Cardiac Center at King Abdulaziz Medical City in Jeddah is one of the new projects of the Ministry of National Guard – Health Affair to meets the urgent need to have a special center for heart diseases and surgeries in order to keep up with the continuous increasing numbers of patients with heart disease. This step is considered improvement turning point in the field of heart disease and its surgical interventions.
King Faisal Cardiac Center was built on the northern-east side of King Khalid hospital at King Abdulaziz Medical City in Jeddah The three-floors main building occupies 11.357 m2 and includes and a diagnostic radiation unit and MRI unit where the offices occupy over 1,200 m2. The center is connected to King Khalid hospital through an air conditioned corridor to facilitate the medical team and patient movement. The center also has an international advanced system to record clinical and medical information that is integrated with King Abdulaziz Cardiac Center in Riyadh, where all heart patients medical records from Jeddah and Riyadh are collected in one integrated system to help transfer medical information and consulting through electronic correspondence, which provides offering medical consultations, discussions and symposia between the two centers through video calls. All of which helped to provide the highest medical service in a timely manner which , in turn, facilitates medical consultations and prompt decisions making.
