King Faisal Cardiac Center (KFCC), Ministry of National Guard – Health Affairs (MNGHA)- Western Region, which was chosen as a “Center of Excellence” in the Middle East, is participating in the International Conference for Intervention for Structural Heart Disease (PICS-AICS 2019) on Thursday, September 5, 2019.
Dr. Jamila Al-Rahimi, Deputy Chairman, and Consultant, Adult Cardiology & Advance Echocardiography, Department of Cardiac Science pointed out that KFCC, Jeddah has been invited to participate along with several other national and international specialized centers. These centers compete with each other in highlighting their therapeutic abilities. This explains the utmost importance of the participation of KFCC with its high capabilities, advanced medical equipment, and the great caliber of its members especially in the treatment of these types of complex and rare diseases. It should be mentioned that KFCC provides all adult and pediatric cardiac services at a high level of quality, including: Interventional Cardiac Catheterization services, that provides 24-hour Primary PCI service, Electrophysiology services, Echocardiogram Services, Cardiac imaging (CT scan and MRI), Heart failure clinics, cardiac surgery, cardiac anesthesia and cardiac intensive care unit.
While Dr. Wail Kashkari, Consultant Interventional Cardiology & Structural Heart Disease confirmed the active role of KFCC members, who will be participating in two live procedures broadcast at 8:30 pm and 10:30 pm, KSA time. Dr. Kashkari also pointed out that the medical team consists of Cardiac Interventionist, Advance Echocardiography Consultant, Anesthesiologists and Cardiac Surgery Consultants, in addition to the auxiliary staff of technicians and nurses at the catheterization laboratory. This participation will demonstrate the advanced capabilities of the medical team which have helped in the effective and positive transformation of heart disease management and treatment.
Further, the Chairman of KFCC Dr. Jameel Al-Ata mentioned that the center is considered one of the successful projects carried out by the Ministry of National Guard Health Affairs, which is located northeast King Khalid Hospital and was completed in 2012. Dr. Al-Ata also added that the annual statistics of KFCC indicate this year’s remarkable progress, where the number of cardiac patients reached more than 10,000 patients and the number of diagnostic studies reached more than 9,000 studies and about 1500 cases of cardiac catheterization.
Finally, the Executive Director of Medical Services in the Western Region, Dr. Mohammed Al-Zahrani, praised the remarkable growth of cardiovascular services in particular and medical services in general. Through its therapeutic, preventive and research programs, MNGHA strives to achieve a unique integration that elevates the service provided to patients to the highest professional levels. This clearly reflects the efforts exerted by the administrators in order to facilitate medical development synchronous with the advancement of the health sector in this country.
