Quality Management Department at King Abdulaziz Hospital in Al-Ahsa organized an awareness campaign to detect the damages caused by medical errors. The campaign aimed to raise the level of handling medical errors and the modern scientific methods of detection, analysis and processing.
Regional Executive Director of Ministry of National Guard - Health Affairs , Eastern Region, Dr. Ahmed Al Arfaj, pointed out that “we are pioneers in developing an electronic reporting system to report and deal with potential medical errors”.
On the other hand, the Director of Quality Management at King Abdulaziz Hospital in Al-Ahsa Dr. Sarah Al-Mutairi said that "the campaign was divided into lectures and training workshops led by quality specialists."
She added “The event included three workshops, directed to all staff, in which participants were trained on how to use the electronic system to report possible medical errors within the hospital“. The second workshop targeted the departments’ heads, on how to investigate and address potential damage, while the third workshop discussed how to analyze errors, in order to develop a secure health system",
The event was accredited with 8 CME hours by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCHS).
