Dr. Mansour Al Jundi, Executive Director of Medical Services, and His Excellency Colonel Eng. Khalid Mohammad Bakalka, Executive Director of Operations at Ministry of National Guard - Health Affairs, Western Region will launch the Medication Safety 2015 awareness campaign for under the slogan "your negligence could harm your life .. Be aware of drug Allergies " which is organized by the Medication Safety Program at King Abdulaziz Medical City - Jeddah on Tuesday: June 2nd, 2015 and will last for two days in collaboration with Health Awareness Services.
The Medication Safety Program is a patient safety initiative, carried out under the umbrella of Quality Management and Patient Safety which was launched in 2006.
Head of the campaign, Dr. Loie Goronfolah, an Allergy and Immunology Consultant, explained that the title (Be aware of drug Allergies) was chosen this year due to the increasing number drug allergies incidents.
Dr. Loay also said that the Medication Safety Program in the Western Region is part of the Saudi Medication Safety Center. He also pointed out that there will be an educational symposium targeting doctors, nurses and pharmacists from various health sectors, such as the Ministry of Health and Umm Al-Qura University as along with the participation of Allergy and Immunology consultants.
The campaign will also hold an awareness exhibition at the outpatient center in order to educate patients about medication errors and how to prevent them.
