On behalf of H.E. Chief Executive Officer of Ministry of National Guard - Health Affairs (MNG-HA), President of King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences, Dr. Bandar Al Knawy, Executive Director of Medical Services - National Guard Health Affairs - the Western Region Dr. Mansoor Ahmed Jundi has launched the 4th Middle East Conference of Age & Ageing and Alzheimer's . The Ministry of National Guard-Health Affairs represented by Internal Medicine Department- Geriatric Medicine in cooperation with the Middle East Academy for Medicine of Ageing has organized this conference that will last for three days. During the conference, participants will discuss many scientific topics in order to gather efforts to obtain better health care services.
Dr. Hashim Balubaid, the Conference Chairman, Consultant of Internal Medicine and Head of the Geriatric Medicine Division in King Abdulaziz Medical City in Riyadh - Assistant Professor, Faculty of Medicine, in KSAU-HS delivered a speech explaining that this forum, that targets all medical team, aims to improve the elderly health care. Dr. Balubaid pointed out that Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCHS) will establish Saudi Society for Geriatrics that will be the cornerstone to present and develop the best medical services for elderly. He also mentioned that there is no medicines yet to cure Alzheimer's, however, there are medications and medical interventions that will slow the progression of the disease and the deterioration of the patient. He explained that the elderly at KSA currently is 4% which expected to increase by 2050 to 18% that means we are on urgent need to the prepare plan that will help the elderly.
After that, Dr. Yasser Faden, Deputy of Associate Dean, Deanship of Postgraduate Education , KSAU-HS - Jeddah, delivered a speech explaining that the conference has been held for the first time at Jeddah and it is highlighting the recent development in science of the elderly diseases which includes research, treatment, elderly services.
Moreover, Dr. Mansour Ahmad Al Jundi, Executive Director of Medical Services, Western Region, delivered a speech pointing out that the MNG-HA seeks to improve the service provided to patients to be of the highest level of specialized professional and to apply international standards of medical care. After that, Dr. Al Jundi honored the speakers, the scientific committee, the organizing committee and the Middle East Academy for Medicine of Ageing.
