His Royal Highness Prince Miteb bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Minister of National
Guard will sponsor the
launching of King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences - Jeddah Branch, King Abdullah International
Medical Research Center in Jeddah, Specialized Polyclinics Center (Khouzam), and the Primary Healthcare Center (Al
Sharae) which has been opened and in full operation now.
His Royal Highness will lay the foundation stone for new projects in King Abdulaziz
Medical
City - Jeddah such as King Abdullah Specialist Children's Hospital and the Trauma and Neurosurgery Medical
Center.
H.E. Chief Executive Officer of Ministry of National Guard - Health Affairs, President of
King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences, Dr. Bandar Al Knawy explained that the preparations are
underway to organize this occasional event which will be held on the 26th of August 2015 and will include the
launching of several academic, research and health projects as well as laying the foundation stone for two
specialized hospitals in the Western Region.
Moreover, Dr. Bandar Al Knawy highly valued the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince
Miteb
bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud for his continuous support for the strategic expansions for both the MNG-HA and
the University. Such national projects are according to international standards to improve the quality of
medical education, research excellence and optimal medical services in all specialties from primary to specialized
healthcare.
Dr. Bandar stressed that the development and strategic plans for MNG-HA and the University detected the important
and urgent need for Saudization of the workforce and the rehabilitation of national cadres as well and increasing
the level of the provided healthcare services based directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman
bin Abdulaziz.
He also noted that this would not have been possible without the help of God Almighty
then
the attention and support given by His Royal Highness Prince Miteb bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Minister of
National Guard for all the strategic plans and development projects aimed at the MNG-HA personnel, their families
and the Saudi citizens.
It is worth mentioning that the projects to be launced are:
King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences – Jeddah Campus which is located
inside King Abdulaziz Medical City and near King Khaled Hospital occupying 475,000 m2 with a capacity up to 4,000
students, it includes an administrative building, a convention center, Deanship of Higher Education, College of
Science and Health Professions, College of Medicine, College of Applied Medical Sciences, College of Nursing, and a
Clinical Skills Development Centre.
On the other hand, King Abdullah International Medical Research Center - Jeddah is
designed
to create an environment that supports specialized scientific and medical research. The Center covers up to 10,774
m2 over six floors containing a laboratory, an animal laboratory, animal research facilities in addition to an
operating room, a radiation imaging wing which includes x-rays and CT scans rooms, a bio-bank and biosafety
laboratories.
As for the Specialized Polyclinics Center (Khouzam), they will meet the increased number
of
patients to provide all the support services of Dental Clinics, Pediatrics, Gynecology and other clinics for various
specialties. The building covers 7,200 m2 and includes 62 medical clinic.
The Primary Healthcare Center (Al Sharae) in Makkah Al Mukarramah covers a total area of 10,000 m2 which contains
the clinics main building covering two floors on an area of (1026 m2) for the ground floor and an area of (482 m2)
for the first floor. The center includes specialized clinics on Orthopedics, Dermatology, Psychology,
Ophthalmology, Dentistry, ER, Short Stay Surgery, Pediatrics, Gynecology, Laboratory, Pharmacy, and Medical
Imaging.
With regards to the projects to lay the foundation stone for are, namely:
King Abdullah Specialist Children's Hospital, which is a specialized medical center
with
a capacity of 350 beds spread over 12 floors and in line with international standards for the treatment of
children’s various diseases. It consists of the hospital building, which covers a total area of 962.99 m2, an
in-patient tower containing the ICU, NICU, Bone Marrow Transplant, Oncology, Hematology and General Surgery.
In addition to the Neurosurgery Medical Center with a capacity of up to 176 beds over 6
floors, and it will be up to date with the latest technologies in Neurosurgery and Trauma medicine and surgery.
