The Genetics Division in King Abdulaziz Medical City – Ministry of National Guard – Health Affaires- Riyadh will host the New Born Screening Awareness Day tomorrow on the 17th of December 2015. The event will be held at King Abdullah Specialist Children's Hospital, 3rd floor from 04:00 till 07:00 pm.
This awareness day will include educational lectures, recreational games and competitions, that will target both adults and children and will mimic all different types of genetic diseases, their diagnosis and how to prevent some of their risks.
New Born Screening Program’s objective is to reduce disability by confirming whether the baby has any of the eighteen screened disorders or not. These disorders may vary in terms of when the symptoms might occur, however, such disorders will be less risky when early detection and treatment happen in a timely manner, and some of these diseases are:
