King Abdulaziz Hospital in Al-Ahsa organized held the Fourth Pediatrics Symposium and its related workshops attended by more than 250 participants from various hospitals in the region, and 18 specialized speakers covering several areas of Pediatrics. This conference, according to the Regional Executive Director of NGHA in the eastern region, Dr. Ahmad Al Arfaj "is held for the fourth year on a row as it achieved amazing results in the previously held symposiums, which made it one of the leading symposiums in the region."
Dr. Al Arfaj added: "The large numbers of the participants proves the importance of this event as it covers the most recent developments in the Pediatrics field as well as the accredited CME hours (12) by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties”.
The Chairman of the Organizing Committee and Chairman of Pediatrics Department, KAH, Dr. Hesham Al Girim explained that "the symposium reviewed the latest updates in the Pediatrics field," adding, "one of the most important papers presented covered updates in regards to genetic blood diseases and modern treatment methods using stem cells as well as updates on endocrine diseases, obesity in children, sleep disorders, asthma and its modern treatment methods, delayed mental development, metabolic diseases and its emergency situations treatments, and the most common clinical signs in pediatric ophthalmology. "
On the sidelines of the conference, four workshops were held, covering several topics such as Re-lactation, and modern methods in the diagnosis and treatment of pain in children, Physicians and nurses miscommunication and Breaking bad news.
The conference hosted a group of Saudis consultants known for their high-caliber and experience in pediatrics from several health sectors, including King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre in Riyadh, and the Faculty of Medicine at King Saud University, and armed forces hospitals, , and the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Dammam, and King Abdulaziz Medical City.
