On Saturday 2nd June 2012 the National Guard Health Affairs organized an awareness exhibition about dangers of smoking in King Abdulaziz Medical City in Riyadh to celebrate the World No Tobacco Day to reduce the dangers of smoking through awareness campaigns. The exhibition included booklets and brochures in addition to statistics and studies that show effects of smoking on individuals and society.
This exhibition which will last for a week is in collaboration with Charity Anti-Smoking Association, Purity "Naqa".
Samples of "lungs" were exhibited to demonstrate the destructive power of smoke in damaging this vital organ, which can lead to future infections and other serious diseases. Visitors were most interested in the lung sample and the amount of tar which is resulted from the smoke. The exhibition supervisors had explained the risks of smoking, as well as the methods of quitting through exposing the smoker to a treatment course to help him get rid of this habit, "Naqa" was able to fight smoking and help large number of smokers who are wishing to quit this bad habit.
