Dr. Saad Al-Mohrij, Chief Medical Officer, National Guard Health Affairs, King Abdulaziz Medical City, Riyadh, launched a new expansion to the Short Stay Unit, with a capacity of 23 beds, which will increase the capacity to receive and carryout operations from 20% to 30%.
Following the expansion, the Short Stay Unit will be functioning twenty-four (24) hrs a day under the expertise of a specialized team. In addition to it core mission, the Unit will also be receiving emergency cases from the emergency center.
In its effort to maintain patient safety, the Unit also provides a special booklet to each patient containing the patient’s complete information including the diagnosis and type of operation, as well as the vital instructions in case of emergency. Moreover, each patient is subjected to a comprehensive examination prior to discharge. Patient also has the prerogative for readmission in case of any emergency situation.
This new Short Stay Unit expansion is one of the many innovative projects that comprise various departments and units within King Abdulaziz Medical City in Riyadh as well as other NGHA medical cities and health centers to meet the increasing number of patients and to provide better health care servicea within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
