Dr. Abdulmohsen Alsaawi, Director, Quality & Patient Safety Department, Head of Urgent Care Center and Observation Unit, Ministry of National Guard-Health Affairs – Riyadh and chairman of the Scientific Committee of Patient Safety Forum 2017 asserted that patient safety is one of the most important strategic goals of Ministry of National Guard-Health Affairs. MNG-HA direct great attention towards patient safety and the continuous development to all services under the aim of moving the medical services to the highest level. This Forum considered great opportunity to exchange ideas about the most significant recent methods of patient safety.
In this sense, MNG-HA takes in charge several projects in which they upgrade them to the best medical international systems on all levels, these are some of the examples:
Establishing electronic reporting system to anything related to patient and staff safety at 2009. More than 170,000 reports were presented and solved in addition to creating methods to avoid having the same issues.
Creating safe environment for medical care in which any member of the medical team has the chance to present his idea about patient safety. MNG-HA uses scientific accredited standards to compare the system with the similar international systems.
Currently, the most recent technology to connect MNG-HA hospitals and centers in a unified medical electronic system that enhance the ability of health practitioner to prescribe treatment plans based on the most recent scientific evidence, to facilitate medical coordination and to enable conducting scientific research on a larger scale.
A group of Key Performance Indicators of patient safety has been used and continuously improved.
