Optimizing Pharmacy Education and Training International Conference in collaboration with the College of Pharmacy - King Saud Bin Abdulaziz University for Health Science (KSAU-HS) and the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP), in the United States. The conference is organized by the National Guard Health Affairs and it will be held for two days in Makarim Marriott in Riyadh on Monday, 25th, February 2013.
Dr. Abdulkareem Al Bekairy, -Associate Dean of Students and Academic Affairs of the College of Pharmacy, Assistant Director of Clinical Pharmacy Services and the Chairman of the Scientific Committee, stated that this conference is the first of its kind in Saudi Arabia and will have the privilege of having selected international speakers from United States, representing elite pharmacy organizations in education and training in, some of which are the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP), the Academic Accreditation Council of Pharmacy (ACPE) and The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) in addition to leading pharmacy deans in the United States of America.
Furthermore, Dr. Al Bekairy added that the conference aims to strengthen and expand knowledge in the field of education and training regarding the profession of pharmacy, to review accreditation standards for Pharmacy curricula and residency program, to address the importance of integration between pharmacy education and training for both undergraduate & post graduate, and to discuss the latest assessment strategies for Pharmacy Students and Residents.
The first day of the Conference will highlight topics covering Pharmacy Education and will discuss recent approaches in the field of Pharm-D and methods of integration between the academic education and the clinical training in the field of pharmacy, in addition to reviewing the accreditation standards for Pharmacy curricula. The second day, however, will highlight the training programs in Clinical Pharmacy and will discuss the pharmacy’s residency and fellowship programs, and review the The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists programs (ASHP) as well as the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCHS).
The conference is accredited with (15) CME Hours by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties.
