School Prevention Program for Oral and Dental Health’s medical team participate in GCC Oral Health Unified Week 2017 by visiting several schools in Riyadh. The program includes awareness lecture for the students, awareness booth to present kinds of dental caries and periodontal disease, special corner to educate the students about which food is good for teeth and which not. The team will visit three schools and Students social club on 23 – 27 March, 2017.
With the participation of more than 1000 students, Head of the program, Dr. Abeer Subait explained that the activity aims to raise the level of health awareness of the society and assert the importance of protecting dental and oral health as they closely associated with public health, in addition to enhance the preventive side and healthy behaviors.
Dr. Subait added that educational brochures will be distributed in addition to gifts and tooth brushes. She assert on the importance of participating in such events to enhance the principle “Prevention is better than cure”. Many food habits and behaviors has changed which effect dental and oral health negatively, therefore, effect the public health. She also said “ health and preventive awareness is the most important pillars and it is the goal of the program as it is help reducing the dental and oral diseases that consume lots of human and financial resources”.
