Based on the directive of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the twins arrived in Riyadh on 3 March from Islamabad, Pakistan.
5 days after the successful separation of the Pakistani Conjoined Twins, Mashal and Fatima which was performed on Saturday, 26 March, in King Abdullah Specialist Children's Hospital (KASCH) in King Abdulaziz Medical City at the Ministry of National Guard – Health Affairs - Riyadh, the Head of the Surgical and Multidisciplinary Team, HE Dr. Abdullah Al Rabeeah, stated that the twins are very stable and all their vital signs are normal. The twins were transferred from PICU to the Pediatric Ward the day after the surgery. The twins are very alert and interacting with their parents and staff like any other babies of their age, as well as eating normally.
The twins underwent an operation to separate them from their lower chest and abdomen which was performed over 6 phases taking 6 hours by 20 consultants/specialists.
The parents of the twins are extremely appreciative and truly thankful for the fatherly gesture and generosity of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, as well as to the Medical team and the successful outcome of the separation.
This is the 40th Case that has been separated by the Saudi Team.
