Represented by the Department of Medical Laboratories and the Blood Bank; Prince Mohammed Bin Abdulaziz Hospital-MNGHA at Madinah received the accreditation of the American Association of Blood Banks (Association for The Advancement of Blood & Biotherapies). The hospital succeeded in adding this achievement to its national and international achievements.
AABB is one of the most recognized international associations in blood banking filed. Established in 1947 as a not-for-profit association and committed to setting strict scientific standards and specifications that must be implemented in blood banks to optimize the procedures of blood donating, banking and receiving in order to obtain such important accreditation to improve blood bank services quality of care.
On this occasion, Dr. Turki Alwasaidi, Executive Director of Medical Services at Prince Mohammed Bin Abdulaziz Hospital- MNGHA in Madinah, explained that this achievement comes in compliance with the principle of patient safety, which the Ministry of National Guard Health Affairs adopts in providing all its health services. And that the management of Prince Muhammad bin Abdulaziz Hospital, represented by the Medical Laboratories and Blood Bank Department; was keen to obtain this accreditation which reflects the extent of commitment to the highest standards of quality and international efficiency utilized to provide laboratory and blood bank services.
Dr. Al-Wasaidi further expressed that this success was achieved thanks to with the grace of Allah Al Mighty, and then the support and care of the higher management of Health Affairs at the Ministry of National Guard to strive for excellence in providing all health services in accordance with the highest standards of quality and patient safety.
It is worth mentioning that Prince Mohammed Bin Abdulaziz Hospital has obtained, during the past few years, many prestigious national and international accreditations, most notably the hospital's listing as one of the top 20 laboratories worldwide after obtaining the international A2LA accreditation in all its laboratory services and the ISO 15189 certificate and obtaining the accreditation of the College of American Pathologists CAP, in addition to achieving JCI accreditation as well as renewing the accreditation of the Saudi Central Board For Accreditation Of Healthcare Institutions (CBAHI).
