Laboratory and Pathology Department in Prince Mohammad Bin Abdulaziz Hospital (PMBAH), Al Madinah Al Munawwarah celebrated the World Laboratory Week, with the presence of Deputy Executive Director of Medical Services, Prof. Tariq Khashuggi who launched the event that lasted for two consecutive days with the participation of a number of specialists from several government, private and military medical facilities in AlMadinah.
On the first day, the ceremony included an orientation program about the laboratory activities, functions and its divisions. Then, on the second day, a team of laboratory specialists conducted two advanced workshops about the pre-analysis phase and the mechanism and criteria for medical tests validation .In the first workshop, a Quality Management Specialist, Mr. Omar Qassas , presented a theoretical explanation of the workshop, whereas a Hematology Specialist Mr. Ahmed Mahmoud and Clinical Chemistry Specialist Ms. Kholoud Alahmadi presented the practical part to the attendees. Moreover,the second workshop was presented by three laboratory technicians, Ms. Gufran Saqer, Ms. Ottor Elmi, and Ms. Maria under the supervision of the senior specialist, Mr. Abdulrahman Abboud.
In addition, the Operational Director of the Laboratory in PMBAH, Mr. Abdulaziz Aljehani said that the laboratory and Pathology Department is considered one of the major departments in PMBAH, where various samples are taken to be scanned and processed by using the latest medical equipment. Also, the lab in some special cases send samples to authorized international laboratories.
Last but not least, the laboratory and Pathology Department in PMBAH plays an important role in the success of the treatment plan, where a team of qualified specialists analyze the patient’s samples with high accuracy and then they inter the results in the lab system, so the physician who treats the case can view the samples’ results to help with the decision-making during the diagnosing process, the patient's condition or setting up an appropriate treatment plan in coordination with other departments in the hospital.
