Prince Mohammed Bin Abdul Aziz Hospital (PMBAH), Ministry of National Guard – Health Affairs inaugurated the RFID Healthcare Security System (STANLEY) for baby safety and security, the inauguration took place on Sunday, 14th of February 2016, organized by the Nursing Department and attended by the Executive Director of Operations Dr. Mansour AlOthman, Deputy Executive Director Medical Services, Medical Services, Dr. Tarik Khashoggi, Deputy Executive Director of Operations, Mr. Mansour Al Askar in addition to a number of departmental directors. The ceremony was commenced by a speech delivered by the Director of Nursing Resources System Management Ms. Sofia in which she reviewed the maternity ward stages of development since the operation of the hospital, after that, an audio-visual display shows the advantages of the multiple new security system, which includes accurate and precise baby location through a small smart bracelets placed in the foot all newborns immediately after birth. The bracelets also transmits the baby’s vital signs every 10 seconds to a special security system monitoring devices deployed in all neonatal care areas in addition to the system’s main interface. Moreover, the system is operated and monitored by specialist nurses, which also enables them to track and monitor the newborns wirelessly in an accurate manner.
On the other hand, one of the system’s features aside from being electronically linked with the neonatal care areas doors, which automatically shut down in case of an emergency, it can also alert the nursing staff in babies switching incidents, by linking the newborn bracelet with the birth mother, to accurately match mothers to their infants.
On this occasion, the Executive Director of Operations Dr. Mansour AlOthman delivered a speech in which he expressed his delight with this new achievement, which preserves the integrity infant security and peace of mind for family and staff at Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Hospital, he also extended his appreciation to all the departments and their staff for their efforts towards this achievement. At the end of the ceremony. Director of Clinical Nursing, Dr. Abdi Othman thanked the company who designed the system and all departments who extended their support in making this achievement.
