The Surgical team at King Abdul Aziz Cardiology Center in King Abdulaziz Medical City - Ministry of  National Guard- Health Affairs have successfully completed the a heart surgery for the Polish infant,suffering from a genetic heart condition, as per the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz.

The surgery, which lasted 14 hours, started at 7 am under the surgical team leader, Cardiac Surgery Consultant Dr. Abdulaziz Al Khaldi along with other team members Dr. Omar Tamimi, a Pediatric Cardiology Consultant, Dr. Mohammed Salam,  an Anesthesia Pediatric Cardiac Surgery Consultant and neonatal intensive care team.

After the Surgery, Dr. Al Khaldi pointed out that this surgery is the first phase of the treatment plan approved by the medical team where the treatment plan will cover two phases. The first phase has been completed during this surgery where the main central arteries and the arteries of the right lung were adjusted and 16 pulmonary arteries were fixed. This complex surgery requires the patient to be in the cardiology intensive care unit for a period ranging from two weeks to four weeks in preparation for the second phase, which will be the last in his treatment plan.

The course of the surgery was directly supervised by H.E. Chief Executive Officer of Ministry of National Guard - Health Affairs, Dr. Bandar Al Knawy, who extended his appreciation towards the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz for this  gesture. Dr Al Knawy also highlighted the constant follow-up and supervision of HRH Prince Miteb bin Abduallah, Minister of National Guard for this case.

On the other hand, Polish Ambassador Witold Smidowski visited Jakub Przystki where he was received by H.E. Dr. Saad Al Mehrij, Chief Medical Officer of the Ministry of National Guard - Health Affairs and accompanied him to the cardiology intensive care unit where he was briefed about the surgery and his current status.

Polish Ambassador Witold Smidowski thanked both the King Salman bin Abdulaziz for his humanitarian gesture and Prince Miteb bin Abdullah for his kind cooperation and interest in the matter.
