National Family Safety Program, Ministry of National Guard - Health Affairs, organized a its annual Positive Parenting Campaign 2016 over five days, in the period from the 15th of November till the 20th, in three regions: the Western, Central and Eastern region, in cooperation with the Women's World Summit Foundation (WWSF). The campaign aimed to promote safe and violent-free environments for the children as well as promoting positive parenting methods.
This Positive Parenting Campaign was implemented in three phases: the first phase I entailed an electronic awareness through the dissemination of awareness messages to the community about the damages resulting from any physical punishment (psychologically- socially- mentally) through the NFSP’s social media accounts, in addition to a designated awareness webpage on the NFSP’s website. Where as in phase II, the campaign was held in several malls and shopping centers in the Western region, to spread awareness amongs the public as below:
Jeddah, 17-19 November 2016 in Red Sea Mall
Taief, 24-25 November 2016, Al Jouri Mall
AlMadinah Almunawarah, is schedueled to be held on 1-3 December 2016.
This awareness campaign will be concluded by providing an awareness training program, as phase III for the professionals covering any physical punishment towards the children, its effects and how to deal with such cases.
It is worth mentioning that the campaign addresses several important topics, including: information on the effects of hitting children, the concept of behavioral control, support positive relationship and promote good behavior, educational alternative methods for discipline as well as clarifying the different ways of behavioral change depending on the age group. Last but not least, the campaign received significant interactions by specialists and those interested in the field of family Safety regardless of their scientific and cultural backgrounds in all social media channels.
