
Her Royal Highness Princess Astrid, the daughter of the King of Belgium Albert II, visited King Abdulaziz Medical City on Saturday. Dr. Bandar Al Knawy the CEO of National Guard Health Affairs and the President of King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for the Health Sciences and National Guard Health Affairs officials greeted the Princess.
Dr. Bandar Al Knawy enlightened Princess Astrid of the National Guard Health Affairs and what it contains of specialized and integrated medical cities and centers all over the Kingdom.
Her Royal Highness also received a detailed presentation about King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences and its colleges, departments and centers that rival those in Europe in the use of advanced teaching methods and techniques. Afterwards, Dr. Bandar Al Knawy accompanied her Royal Highness in a tour that included the Intensive Care Unit a recent and specialized center in the intensive care field which also includes an advanced burn care unit. He continued in explaining the recent advances and potentials of this unit.
At the pediatric ICU Her Royal Highness learned about the special services that this medical unit provides and the advanced medical equipment in use. Furthermore, she visited the Egyptian conjoined twins separated recently in KAMC. She also passed by the pediatric ward to visit the Iraqi conjoined twins Eyad and Ziyad who are undergoing treatment after being recently separated.
Her Royal Highness Princess Astrid described the Kingdom’s achievements and what it had received of global recognition in separating conjoined twins as a noble humanitarian work, pointing out the outstanding role that King Abduallah bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud played in taking in these charitable cases from all over the world. To conclude her visit, Dr. Bandar Al Knawy gave her Royal Highness a plaque in honor of this occasion.
