The two-day first Pulmonary Hypertension Conference which was organized by NGHA in cooperation with the Saudi Association of pulmonary hypertension and attended by speakers and participants from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and abroad ended on Sunday, 15th January 2012.
Dr. Omar Tamimi, the conference Director - pediatric cardiology consultant explained that organizing such event stems from the importance of this field where most studies proved that the late diagnosis and treatment of pulmonary hypertension affects patients in the long term. Therefore, this conference was held to raise awareness among people as well as doctors and nurses to provide additional expertise in this area.
He also stated that the audience valued the importance of patient care for those who suffer from pulmonary hypertension, the severity of the disease in its multiple stages and the importance of early detection and treatment at an early stage of the disease.
Dr. Al-Tamimi also said that:" the conference discussed the general situation of the disease in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through a speech given by the head of the Saudi Association of Pulmonary Hypertension (SAPH) Dr. Magdy Idrees. The participants also discussed the latest technologies in diagnosis, basic ways to communicate with the disease, surgical options, latest treatment methods, patients care methods after undergoing lung Transplantation. As well as difficulties and obstacles faced when establishing patient- friendly associations and ways to solve them".
