Forty-eight hours after the successful separation of the Saudi Twins (Rana And Reem), HE Dr. Abdullah Al Rabeeah announced that the twin’s are now stable and their vital signs are well without any signs of complications. The separated twins movement is normal for their age and both are still under artificial respirators in the intensive care unit (PICU) at King Abdulaziz Medical City - National Guard Health Affairs in Riyadh.
His Excellency also added that they will remain for more two weeks in the intensive care Unit to closely monitor their recovery, and then will be transferred to ward 7 to continue their rehabilitation program and physiotherapy.
The parents checked the health of their twins and expressed their thanks to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud for his parental gesture.
The separation procedure was carried out last Thursday and lasted 12 hours with the participation of a Saudi multidisciplinary medical team. The Twins were conjoined at the bottom of the abdomen and the pelvis; they also share the lower genito-urinary system and the lower part of their digestive system.
