Based on the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the separation of the Saudi Conjoined Twins  (Rana And Reem)  which was held on Thursday 13 September 2012 in King Abdul Aziz Medical City in National Guard in Riyadh was successful.

His Excellency, Minister of Health and medical and surgical team leader Dr. Abdullah Al Rabeeah stated that the twins seperation surgery was successful and the twins vital signs are stable with no complications during and after the separating the conjunction where it was located in the bottom of the abdomen and the pelvis, the lower fused genito-urinary system and the lower part of their digestive system..  

The surgery was carried out according to plan with some interventions in the early stages as of the conjunction in the pelvic area, colon, intestines and genito-urinary system. Due to their conjunction in the pelvic and not the hips, some special restoration procedures were carried out as well.

The operation procedure lasted for nearly 12 hours carried out by the Saudi surgical medical specialist team headed by Dr. Abdullah Al Rabeeah for all the 11 stages, starting with complete anesthesia, preparation. After that, a cystoscopy was made and a catheter was inserted. The fourth stage was conducted and then the separation the intestines, the urinary system, followed by the episiotomy procedure and the reconstrution of various organs. Finally, the closing phase included; covering, and transportation.

HE Dr. Abdullah Al Rabeeah on behalf of his fellow members thanked King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud for his continuous support and unlimitted ervices to humanity and those in need everywhere.

On his part, HE Chief Executive Officer of National Guard Health Affairs and General Supervisor of Royal clinics, Dr. Bandar Al Knawy expressed appreciates the fatherly and generous gesture of King Abdullah, who through his humanitarian actions and compassion has changed so many lives.
