Six days after the separation procedure the Moroccan twins Azizah and Saeedah are breathing normally after being removed from the artificial respirator and all the catheters; all their vital signs are good and their organs are functioning normally. The procedure took place in King Abdulaziz Medical City – Riyadh on Saturday the 20th of June 2009.
His Excellency the Minister of Health Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah and Head of the multi-disciplinary surgical and medical team said that there were no complications or infections. He mentioned that Saeedah is now breastfeeding while Azizah will start breastfeeding in two days.
The medical team decided to place the twin in the same bed in order to lessen any tension and anxiety resulting from the separation. The twins are expected to stay in the Intensive Care Unit for 10 days.
This is the 23rd separation procedure for conjoined twines performed in the Kingdom led by His Excellency the Minister of Health Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah following the directions and support of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abduallah bin Abdulziz.
