Imam Abdulrahman Al Faisal Hospital – Dammam organized and conducted World Asthma Day to raise awareness of the causes and effects of this bronchial condition with the participation of more than 300 participants.
Dr. Ahmad Al Arfaj, the Regional Executive Director of the Ministry of National Guard -Health Affairs in the Eastern Region, pointed out that this event holds a high scientific value due to covering the latest updates in Asthma management and treatment. Several Workshops have been held on the first day whilst a series of lectures were held on the second day and has been accredited with CME hours by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCHS).
Due to the increasing rates in respiratory diseases and asthma, such events are being held regularly to target and help people with asthma in taking control of their condition. The activities covered some significant topics such as the definition of asthma, its characteristics in children and adults as well as how mange each type.
Some of the prominent proposals of this awareness event focused on asthma patient education regarding the optimal methods of controlling and dealing with this condition as well as the high need and demand of health practitioners training courses.
