
The Moroccan twin Safa left the Kingdom on Sunday May 31, 2009 after undergoing a separation procedure with her twin Marwa in the National Guard Health Affairs- Riyadh under the directive of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz.
The separation procedure was conducted on the 12th July2008 with great success.
The twins underwent meticulous care throughout the follow up as one of them suffered from significant birth defects in her heart, leading to two additional procedures; unfortunately Marwah died a few months after the separation procedure. However, Safa is currently doing very well.
“Safa and Marwa” had arrived in King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh on Friday, April 4th 2008 from Morocco under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz who directed that the twins and their parents be welcomed and to arrange all the necessary examinations in KAMC – Riyadh.
His Excellency the Minister of Health and the head of the medical and surgical team Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah praised the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques’ humanitarian initiative. Moreover, Dr. Bandar Al Knawy, the Chief Executive Officer of the NGHA and the President of King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences, commended the directions of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques who continues to support humanitarian areas regardless of religion and race as is demonstrated in his efforts regarding conjoined twins.
