King Salman Social Center held an Educational Session on how to deal with diabetes, especially in the holy month of Ramadan, due to the variety of dishes and food served on the main two meals Iftar and Suhoor. This session was organized by the Division of Endocrinology at King Abdulaziz Medical City - Riyadh in collaboration with Saudi Charitable Association of Diabetes on Saturday, June 27th, 2015.
The event aims to educate diabetic patients and their families on the specific aspects of diabetes during the holy month of Ramadan, to improve public awareness and understanding of the disease, in addition to promoting prevention the disease and highlighting any changes that occur due to the use of some medications such as pills and insulin, as well as to trying to avoid Hypoglycemia, and the result is a comfortable and easy fasting for diabetic patients.
The event included a number of lectures and workshops that address the difficulties of fasting for diabetic on Victims of diabetes in several different aspects, finding fasting solutions without imposing them to health risks,, and to clarify the categories that can fast during the month of Ramadan and those who can’t. Lastly, at the end of the event, a Q&A session with a group of consultants was commenced.
