The Deputy Executive Director of Operations, Prince Mohammed Bin Abdul Aziz Hospital - AlMadinah, Mr. Mansour Al Askar launched the activities of the Safety Awareness Week under the theme of ”Avoiding Injuries and Saving lives” by opening the awareness exhibition which was organized by the Safety Management Department with the in honor of the Executive Director of Medical Services in PMBAH, Dr. Walid Al Yafi, Deputy Executive Director of Medical Services, Dr. Tarik Khashoggi and a number of departments’ directors.
The celebration of this international week aims at raising safety awareness amongst all staff members, hospital’s visitors and patients in PMBAH as well promoting a risk-free environment.
Moreover, the awareness exhibition which was held in the main lobby of the hospital had the participation of more than 14 departments covering several safety awareness corners , in which the Nursing Services focused on how to deal with spilled materials. On the other hand, Utility and Maintenance Department focused on introducing personal protection equipment , while the Laboratory Department explained needles first aid,, whereas the Quality Management Department focused on introducing and training the exhibition’s staff visitors on how to report the dangers. Also, the Environmental Services Department participated in explaining medical waste separation.
In addition, Infection Control Department made a live training for the visitors on hand hygiene, while theRehabilitation Services Department focused on the proper and safe ways of lifting materials.
Also, Fire Protection Services provided a visible explanation on fire safety ,and Pharmaceutical Care Department focused in its corner on communication and the most important points necessary when prescribing medications among the patient, the doctor and the pharmacist.
Additionally, the Radiology Department provided special safety measures in radiation, where as the Health Technology Management focused on avoiding medical errors by finding out the best ways to deal with medical devices, while the Housing Services Department provided awareness programs for visitors entitled “Safety Starts from Your Home”, and last but not least, Dental Services provided an awareness program entitled “Teeth Safety”.
It is worth to mention that due to the excellence and inclusion of the awareness safety exhibition, Safety Management succeeded in attracting more than 750 visitors from both staff members and visitors.
At the end of the celebration, Deputy Executive Director of Operations, PMBAH Mr. Mansour Al Askar honored the participated departments and expressed his gratitude regarding the success of the exhibition and achieving its objectives and praised the great efforts made by the departments involved in the exhibition. Last but not least, he expressed his special appreciations to those in charge of the preparation and organization of the exhibition, safety management staff, namely the safety specialist, Mr.Samer Shargawi and Mr. Imad Dagistani also the safety inspector, Ms. Horiah Gablan.
