More than 750 male and female students participated in the activities of the Safety Awareness Week held by King Abdulaziz Hospital - Al Ahsa, representing more than 20 different schools. The Regional Executive Director of National Guard Health Affairs - the Eastern Region Dr. Ahmed Al Arfaj pointed that "these events, which lasted for a whole week, focused on daily safety and security principles, and targeted the staff and their families, the auditors and visitors in general".
He said "We evaluate these events every year, due to its importance and its great direct impact on the participants in order to correct their concepts and raise awareness of safety procedures in a careful and intensive way."
The Director of Safety Department at King Abdul Aziz Hospital- Dr. Jamal Al shaar said: "the events began by an exhibition in which multiple departments and sections in the hospital have participated, as well as private sector companies. The exhibition included signboards of safety in general and traffic in particular, in addition to brochures on safety to spread awareness among staff and visitors".
He said " a booklet on safety by Al Ahsa children have been written, printed out by the Safety Department and then distributed in the hospital, it includes stories written by the children themselves, where they tell accidents stories and how to prevent them, along with pictures and drawings they drew themselves, the reader of this booklet will get our message that was translated and delivered by these children during their affective cooperation".
The Organizing Committee of Safety Week held four lectures on safety and risk management hosted by lecturers from different cities around the Kingdom, Dr. Shaar added "the major event was organized by the Primary Health Care in King Abdulaziz Hospital - Al Ahsa’s housing, where an exhibition was held at the employee club for the students, we received more than 750 male and female students from more than 20 schools. The students participated in such events such as lectures on first aid, traffic safety and safety at home, school and streets".
Dr. Shaar added " more than 35 teachers attended a workshop about CPR and fire safety, they trained on how to deal with cardiac arrests and schools fires," he also pointed out that "many organizations participated in this exhibition including the Civil Defense, Saudi Red Crescent, Aramco, Schlumberger, Hellbrton and Hyatt Corporation, along with many departments and sections of the hospital".
The Organizing Committee had set up an awareness safety boot camp for families and children to conclude its activities, the camp was attended by more than 700 people, and included practical training on how to fight fires and its related risks in an entertaining way, a course on first aid for families and children, as well as fire trucks festival to identify their characteristics and functions.
