Primary Health Care, Iskan Clinic (Al Yarmouk), Ministry of National Guard Health Affairs, Riyadh, celebrated the “2nd Saudi Pharmacist Day 2016” on 24th of November 2016 with the presence of Director of FM & PHC- CR, Dr. Ali Al Farhan, Acting Director, Iskan Clinic, Dr. Aida Al Dughaither, and Acting Pharmacy Supervisor Rph. Emad Basalasel.
It is worth mentioning that the activity addresses several important topics which include:
Definition of the Pharmaceutical Care Services
Patient Education about the Pharmaceutical Care
Answering all the questions for the patients and health care providers
And discussed the importance of patient counseling to avoid medication errors and to discover any drug interactions
During the Pharmacist Day, significant issues were discussed with the guest/visitors like the Home OTC (over the counter medications/ drugs) how to use and stored them. Antibiotics should be with prescription, and we have to educate them the proper use and their storage. Patients have to be familiar with the drug -drug or food -drug interaction especially with the use of herbal medicines which can contribute to the drug interaction or side effects if taken without consultation.
