Forty-eight hours after the successful separation of the Sudanese conjoined twins Mamdooh and Mahmood performed on
Saturday, 24 May 2014 at the Ministry of National Guard – Health Affairs (KAMC) the Head of the Surgical and Multidisciplinary Team, Dr. Abdullah Al Rabeeah stated that the twins are stable in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU).
However, Mahmood requires very careful attention due to his complex and anomalous heart as well as having an abnormal malfunctioning kidney which requires close monitoring and medical care.
The twin Mamdooh is progressing and all of his vital organs are functioning properly. He has had a slight raise in temperature but otherwise is doing extremely well.
Both twins will be kept at the PICU for at least three weeks and then will be transferred to the Pediatric Ward to commence their rehabilitation.
The parents of the twins are extremely appreciative and thankful to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz for his fatherly gesture and generosity as well as to the medical team for the successful outcome of the separation.
