The Saudi multidisciplinary surgical and medical team have decided to postpone the Saudi conjoined twins (Shikhah and Shemoukh) separation operation which was supposed to take place today, Thursday, the 27th of September 2018 in King Abdullah Specialist Children's Hospital (KASCH) at King Abdul Aziz Medical City, Ministry of National Guard - Health Affairs –Riyadh to a health condition, high temperatures and signs of inflammation.
His Excellency, Dr. Abdullah Al Rabeeah, Advisor at the Royal Court, Supervisor General of King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre and head of the multidisciplinary medical and surgical team noted that the females twins are four months old, and each weighing 5.2 kg, they are conjoined in the lower abdomen area and pelvis; each of them has complete lower limbs. They both share the lower part the digestive system as well as the reproductive and urinary system, and in the interest of their safety and in line with medical standards, the team decided to postpone the surgery until the twins are stable, God willing.
