The National Guard Health Affairs issued that this year’s holy month of Ramadan 1431 H will mark the beginning of a smoking ban in all of its facilities throughout the Kingdom.
Dr. Bandar Al Knawy, Chief Executive Officer of the National Guard Health Affairs, mentioned that the NGHA Council recently discussed the strengthening the policy of smoking bans in all sectors to protect the health and safety of employees and all who frequent its facilities from patients and visitors.
A committee has been assigned to prepare an executive action plan to launch the campaign with an integrated program in line with the decisions issued in this regard, reflecting the eagerness of the officials in protecting citizens from the medical, social, environmental and economic hazards of this habit.
On the first of Rajab (corresponding with June 13) of this year the National Guard Health Affairs launched a campaign of cultural awareness dealing with smoking. A number of booklets and brochures were distributed and awareness text messages have been sent to mobile phones. All these and more are part the comprehensive plan to develop effective smoking control measures in accordance to the criteria set by the Health Affairs Board.
