
Training and Development Department at the National Guard Health Affairs in the Eastern province in collaboration with the Social Services Department in King Abdulaziz National Guard Hospital in Alahsa will conduct a symposium and a workshop about “the obstacles facing social services in the health sector” on Wednesday, the 22nd of April 2009 in the lecture hall, the administrative building in the hospital. The seminar will contain 4 lectures and 2 workshops with the participation of a number of specialists.
Dr. Ahmad Abdulrahman Al-Arfaj, The regional executive manager in the Eastern province NGHA said:” These are free of charge lectures and workshops and the target are all NGHA personnel and accredited by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties. The number of accredited hours will be announced later on.”
Dr. Ahmad Abdulrahman Al-Arfaj also stated that the symposium will include four lectures where Dr. Abduallah Al-Rshoud will be talking about obstacles facing social workers in the health sector, Mr.Mansour Aldheman will clarify how the therapeutic team sees social workers.
The symposium will have two workshops in which Ms.Nourah Alsoayan will talk about cognitive behavioral therapy in the first workshop and techniques and strategies of rational and emotional therapy in the second workshop given by Mr.Saad Almshawah. In addition, NGHA is always keen on conducting such symposiums and programs which aims to raise the level of NGHA personnel.
The symposium –according to the organizing committee – aims to creating an atmosphere of dialogue in different aspects of the social workers responsibilities in medical facilities, it’s expected that key aspects will be discussed from the patients and the doctors to the social knowledge. Furthermore, the symposium is keen on providing recommendations that highlight the social workers concerns and expectations.
