After completing treatment, The Somali twin left the National Guard Health Affairs on the 22nd of April 2009 after being separated from her twin sister less than a month ago.
The separation surgery was on Thursday March 26, 2009 based on the directive of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud who directed that the mother undergo testing after heeding the pleas of the father.
It was found that the twins were conjoined in the chest and abdomen and one of them suffered from congenital defects (it had no brain and had significant birth defects in the heart) which threatened the twin sister.
The procedure was conducted by a specialized medical team, headed by His Excellency the Minister of Health Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Rabeeah and lasted for three hours. The normal twin was successfully separated and has left the hospital on Wednesday at full health.
The parents are truly appreciative of the generosity, compassion and for the humanitarian actions of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah Abdulaziz Al Saud and the great medical team.
