The Campaign's goal is to highlight the misconceptions and save lives
The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at King Abdul Aziz Hospital - Al Ahsa organized the activities of the Stem Cells Donation Campaign under the auspices of the Saudi Stem Cells Donor Registry for five continuous days in the Primary Health Care Center and Hittin Clinic in King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Housing.
The Regional Executive Director of the Ministry of National Guard -Health Affairs (MNG-HA) in the Eastern Region, Dr. Ahmad Al Arfaj pointed out that: “The target group of the campaign is all age groups from 18 to 49, and we aim to raise the community awareness levels of the importance of stem cell donation and to contribute in saving lives because most people have misconceptions about the whole process ".
He added:” The event, which witnessed a large number of people enrolling in the Saudi Stem Cells Donor Registry, included workshops about stem cells education and the importance of their donation to patients, especially for cancer patients, and how to take samples and donate and we also targeted health practitioners: nurses, unit assistants, and laboratory workers".
In addition to the blood sampling tables, the organizers also set up a corner for the public's Q&As. Additionally, the participants who agree to be potential donors, fill out the donation form along with a detailed explanation about the donation mechanism and covering the travel and expenses while emphasizing the humanitarian and religious aspect of this process, which prompted many to register their names among those who wish to donate through this campaign.
