The National Guard Health Affairs represented by the Family Medicine Department in the Specialized Health Services Center in Khashm AlAan is organizing an awareness day next Tuesday, the 7th of April 2009, under the title “Towards a Better Life with Asthma” in association with World Asthma Day.
The objective of this day is to spread awareness about chest allergies, how they're controlled, the treatment methods and how to safely use the perscribed medications.
In addition, it will seek to find positive environments to educate patients about the optimal treatment for chest allergies which can be achieved only with the direct and full understanding of the nature of disease.
The day will include a number of medical, educational and recreational activities as many health specialties and pharmacists will attend. Furthermore, there will be a special exhibit for this occasion. It will have various stands and one of its most influential stands will deal with smoking. It will discuss the prevention of smoking and many specialists from the Anti-smoking Society will provide guidance and advice to smokers in an effort to spread awareness about this serious problem and its detrimental effects on asthma patients.
“Friends for asthma” will participate in the pediatric asthma stand which is a group of children participating with their artwork and drawings. This stand will also include a section called “Me, My baby and Asthma” which aims to change the misconceptions that some mothers and the society have about children with asthma and their ability to live a normal life.
Additionally, there will be a special corner for pharmacists where they will give advice and demonstrate safe and correct methods when using asthma medications. Some of these significant stands will include sections presenting the spirometer, pulmonary treatment, health education and community health magazine. The day will conclude with a contest stand where all family members can participate in answering the questions and winning prizes.
