Prince Mohammad Bin Abdulaziz Hospital (PMBAH) in Al Madinah concluded the "Tracheostomy Care Course" last week, which aimed to develop the skillset of doctors, nurses and respiratory therapy specialists on how to take care of tracheostomy tube of patients in different cases and different ages.
The comprehensive course content covered all phases of tracheostomy care starting by the explanation of primary symptoms, how to diagnose health indicators that may appear on the patient along with bronchial tubes types, the technical roles for each health practitioner who is assigned to different cases according to their specialties and finally, the different methods and techniques of treatment for each patient depending on his or her health condition and age.
The course was presented by Otolaryngology Consultant, Dr. Ahmed Kurdi, Head of Otolaryngology Department - PMBAH with the participation of several specialized medical departments such as the Nursing Education Department and the Respiratory Therapy Department and other departments lasted for a day and varied between lectures and workshops, and was attended by sixty trainees from various health practitioners from Al Madinah’s different health facilities in addition to a number of medical students from Taibah University. Furthermore, the course was accredited with 6 CME Hours by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCHS).
