Department of Orthopedics Surgery, Ministry of National Guard-Health Affairs (MNG-HA), Riyadh is organizing Quad Bike Trauma Awareness Day under the slogan “Let's make it a safe hobby”. The campaign will starts at 7 November 2017 and last for two days and it aims to raise awareness of the society about the risks and the traumas resulting from the wrong use of quad bikes especially the winter season approaches.
The campaign, that targeting children and their parents, will take place at King Abdullah Specialist Children Hospital (KASCH), King Abdulaziz Medical City (KAMC) – Riyadh. An awareness exhibition will be conducted, in which, several specialists will provide detailed information about the most common quad bike accidents and how to handle them. In the exhibition, pamphlets will be presented in addition to a presentation shows the safety tool kit that must be with the bike rider. On the second day of the campaign, the exhibition will be held on the entrance of Surgical Tower.
Four-wheeler Quad Bike is the most common and used kind in Saudi Arabia especially in Winter, however, because of unsafe use of these bikes, the injuries increased especially among children and teenagers under 16 years old. Some statistics shows that annual death rate due to quad bikes are more than 50% for people under the age of 16.
