
Department of Infection Prevention and Control in King Abdulaziz Hospital /Al Ahsa, Ministry of National Guard-Health Affairs(MNG-HA)organized Tuberculosis Awareness Exhibition which was launched by the Regional Executive Director of MNG-HA in the Eastern Region, Dr. Ahmad Al Arfaj, Deputy Regional Executive Director of Operation, MNG-HA, in the Eastern Region, Mr. Saud Albgmi and Director of the Infection Control Department, Dr. Ayman Al Jamal.
In addition, Dr.Al Arfaj said that holding such exhibitions aims at raising the awareness of the community, which MNG-HA seeks to achieve.
Also, several departments participated in the exhibition such as Health Education, Dialysis, Respiratory Services, Environmental Health, Emergency Services and Pharmacy.
TB is a contagious disease that affects the lungs and other parts of the body such as kidney, brain and spinal cord. It is considered the second most serious infectious disease after AIDS. One-third of the world is infected with this disease, which has no symptoms, while 10% of these people are infected with active Mycobacterium; whose symptoms are cough accompanied with phlegm and blood, anorexia, high temperature and sweating at night and sudden weight loss. Prevention of the TB spread is to avoid overcrowded places and contacting infected people as well maintaining hygiene, good ventilation and ensuring tuberculosis vaccine for all children at birth.
