Discussed Urgent Care Performance in Western RegionDiscussed Urgent Care Performance in Western Region 
 
A clinical leadership forum to discuss its Urgent Care Performance in the Western Region  was led by H.E. Chief Executive Officer of MNG-HA, President of King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences (KSAU-HS), Dr. Bandar Al Knawy. It was initiated by his Excellency to measure key performance indicators for healthcare delivery. This initiative was driven by the commitment which is inspired by the 2030 vision and the National transformation program. Utilizing the wealth of clinical data that became available following the implementation of its state of art Electronic patient record, many Urgent Care performance indicators were presented. According to Dr Joud Abduljawad, the chairman of clinical performance, the Western region Urgent Care system is doing well compared to the international standards, he highlighted that about 90% of patients receive a decision to be admitted or discharged within 4 hours of arrival and also around 90% leave the emergency department within 6 hours. Participants highlighted that this good performance must encourage us to do more to ensure more efficiency and better quality of care to face the new future challenges in delivering Urgent Care. Dr. Mohammad Al Zhrani, Executive Director Medical services-WR stressed the need to better integrate all sectors and specialties in healthcare whether it is primary care, secondary or tertiary care services. Dr. Al Zahrani also highlighted the need to deliver the same high quality and efficient care at weekends as much as weekdays.

In his closing remarks, His Excellency Dr. Bandar Al Knawy thanked all staff for their effort to achieve such good performance in urgent care. His Excellency encouraged staff to adopt the use of new technologies to improve the quality and efficiency of patients care, such as the use of Machine Learning and Artificial intelligence in healthcare or the application of new telecommunication technology or the use of big data that became recently available in MNGHA in its medical research. His Excellency reported to the forum some recent successes in adopting new technologies like the use of Virtual clinics and telemedicine in Radiology.

Finally, the forum participants all agreed to continue the work to transform Urgent Care system in order to provide a highly responsive treatment when the patients need it the most.
