Medical Imaging Department at King Abdulaziz Medical City-Jeddah organized a training course for Ultrasound-Guided Vacuum Assisted Biopsy. The course targeted medical imaging workers especially those working Pathology and radiology. Consultant Women’s Body & Breast Imaging Dr. Shaza Alsharif said that ultrasound-guided VABB helps with suspicious findings on mammography that are non-palpable and non-detectable. She added that Ultrasound-guided vacuum-assisted breast biopsy (VABB) has been recently regarded as a feasible, effective, minimally invasive and safe method for sampling non-mass breast abnormalities, and in the removal of benign breast lesions without serious complications. In addition, the success of a breast VABB depends on both the performance of the procedure and the appropriate post-biopsy management. She explained that the training outlined a general approach to the Ultrasound image-guided vacuum breast biopsy and emphasizing on the radiology-pathology correlation.
