King Abdulaziz Hospital of Ministry of National Guard – Health Affairs, Al Ahsa held the Venous Thromboembolism Conference with the participation of a large number of health practitioners. Dr. Ahmad Al Arfaj, the Regional Executive Director of the Ministry of National Guard -Health Affairs in the Eastern Region pointed out that : “The conference, which is held for the second year, receives a great response and attention for the scientific value from the doctors and the medical staff such as nurses and technicians”.
The conference chairman, Dr. Hani Mustafa pointed out that: "The conference features several speakers from different surgical and medical specialties and focused on the importance of prevention of lung clots (Pulmonary Embolism), which is a deadly but a preventable diseases. The speakers discussed the risks of both Venous Thromboembolism (leg ) and Pulmonary Embolism (lung) as well as the causes that may be simply from reasons many people do not know, such as sitting or traveling for long periods of time.
He explained that "the scientific papers provided some advice to prevent these strokes, and called for the establishment of prevention strategies in all hospitals especially for post-operation patients". Furthermore, the Quality Management showcased the experience of King Abdulaziz Hospital in the prevention of these diseases, which had a significant impact and a tangible success.
