A new achievement added to health affairs at the Ministry of National Guard, with the King Abdulaziz Medical City in Jeddah receiving the National Award for Patient Safety 2019 in the category of hospitals based on the project "The Role of Virtual Reality in Improving Health Care" which was supervised by Eng. Faisal Ashour specialized in medical simulation engineering and used modern technology to integrate Medicine and engineering with the aim of improving the quality of life in patient care. Moreover, this technique is used in more than one medical service for a period over than 90 minutes. The VR technology had a promising result in eliminating drug intervention in pain management for oncology and non-oncology cases, which helped to reduce painkillers and improve performance, efficiency, reduce waiting, and save operational expenses.
Dr. Mohamed Ahmed Al-Zahrani - Executive Director of Medical Services-WR, enlightened the interest of Ministry of National Guard health affairs in introducing modern medical technologies in contribute to improving health care services that positively reflects on medical practice and the treatment methodology between the doctor and the patient. He also emphasizes the expansion of medical research fields in various disciplines, and that patient safety is the cornerstone of advanced health care system.
Mr. Ahmed Hammad Al-Balawi - Executive Director of Operation- WR, indicated that health affairs have taken the initiatives to achieve the desired aspirations in develop a qualified national cadre in all medical, nursing, health and administrative specialties. Adding such a development to NGHA is without a doubt is an extension of the development by health affairs to raise the level of health services.
In addition, H.E. Dr. Bandar AlKnawy, Executive Director of Health Affairs at the Ministry of National Guard, King Abdulaziz Medical City, Jeddah, emphasized that receiving the National Award for Patient Safety under the project of "The role of virtual reality in improving health care" has its impact to keep pace with the medical performance of developments and concepts of applications in patient safety. This comes within the framework of the mission of scientific and research health affairs involving the importance of safety procedures and accuracy of standards in its health facility.
Dr. AlKnawy, stressed that all accomplishments are achieved only with the grace of God Almighty and then support of our leader the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness Prince Muhammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Defense, and direct supervision of His Royal Highness Prince Abdullah bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, Minister of National Guard.
