
Dr. Bandar Al Knawy, Chief Executive Officer, National Guard Health Affairs, President, King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences and General Supervisor, Royal Clinics received on Sunday the Director General of the World Health Organization (WHO) Dr. Margaret Chan who is on a visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to attend the Mass Gatherings Medicine International Conference that was held in Jeddah last week.
Dr. Al Knawy accompanied Dr. Margaret Chan and her companions on a tour of King Abdulaziz Medical City during which she was briefed on what the city offers of advanced medical equipment as well as the qualified medical staff who contribute to providing better health service.
Moreover, Dr. Hanan Balkhi the Executive Director of the Infection and Prevention Control Department in the National Guard Health Affairs gave a presentation on the NGHA’s contributions in the field of Infection Control and Epidemiology, pointing out the activities carried out by the Centre for Infection Control in collaboration with the WHO to fight infection. Some of these prevention efforts included developing a manual for hospital infection control as well as the hand hygiene campaign throughout the Arab Gulf Countries.
The visiting delegation included Dr. Margaret Chan, Dr. Ian Smith, Adviser to the Director General of the WHO, Dr. Awad Omar, the WHO representative in Saudi Arabia and Dr. Sana Filimban who accompanied the Saudi Ministry of Health delegation.
